🎬 PART 2: «The Man She Thought Was Dead»

The mother stared at her daughter.

“What exactly did he say?”

The girl took a shaky breath.

“He said to tell you that Daniel never forgot.”

The color drained from the woman’s face.

Daniel.

Her son.

The child she had been told died during a military evacuation twenty-three years earlier.

Her daughter watched her reaction.

“Mom… who is Daniel?”

The woman sat down slowly.

“My son.”

The girl stopped breathing.

“My brother?”

Her mother nodded.

Then the girl whispered,

“Dustin has that name tattooed on his arm.”

The older woman’s eyes snapped toward her.

“What?”

“He said Daniel raised him.”

Silence filled the room.

The mother reached into her uniform pocket and pulled out an old photograph.

A little boy smiled beside her in it.

Her daughter stared at the face.

Then began shaking.

“Mom…”

“What?”

“That’s him.”

The mother froze.

“Who?”

“The man who stood behind Dustin while they hurt me.”

Her mother’s eyes filled with tears.

For twenty-three years, she had mourned a dead son.

Now her injured daughter was telling her he had been alive.

And worse—

he had been close enough to watch.
