🎬 PART 2: «What His Daughter Finally Said»

The little girl’s voice was so soft he almost missed it.

“She did it.”

The man stopped breathing.

The woman shook her head immediately.

“No, she’s confused—”

The child flinched at the sound of her voice and curled inward.

That one movement broke him.

He turned back to his daughter, gentler now.

“No one’s going to speak for you.”

Tears slipped down her pale cheeks.

“She said if people thought I was sick… they’d feel sorry for me.”

His hand began to shake.

“And they’d stop asking why I cried.”

The woman let out a broken sob.

“I was trying to help—”

The little girl finally looked at her.

“No.”

It was the first strong thing she said.

The park went painfully quiet.

“You hurt me.”

The woman’s face collapsed.

The man bowed his head for a second, like the shame was too heavy to hold up.

Then he looked at his daughter again.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

Her lower lip trembled.

“She said you loved her.”

His eyes filled instantly.

“And if I told you…”

She swallowed hard.

“You’d choose her anyway.”

The man made a sound that barely sounded human.

He took both of her folded hands into his.

“I should’ve seen it.”

The child blinked at him through tears.

Then she whispered the line that shattered everyone standing there.

“I kept waiting for you to notice I wasn’t sick… I was scared.”
