🎬 PART 2: «The Secret Behind Her Sunglasses»

The father stopped breathing.

“You can see?”

The girl began crying.

“A little.”

He gently removed her sunglasses.

She blinked against the autumn light.

Then looked directly at his face.

“Daddy.”

His eyes filled instantly.

“How long?”

“Months.”

The father’s voice cracked.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

She looked down.

“Mom said if I got better, you’d stop loving me because you only stayed home to take care of me.”

His expression collapsed.

“That’s not true.”

The boy pulled one more thing from his backpack.

A folded receipt.

The father took it.

It was from a private clinic.

His wife’s name appeared at the bottom.

Beside it was a payment for medication never listed in his daughter’s treatment records.

His hands started shaking.

Then the girl whispered,

“She told me not to eat breakfast today.”

“Why?”

“Because you were supposed to sign something tonight.”

The father looked at her.

“What?”

The boy answered.

“Papers saying your daughter would need permanent care.”

Silence.

The man stared toward the path leading back to his house.

Then his daughter grabbed his hand.

“Daddy…”

He looked down.

“She doesn’t want me sick because she hates me.”

Her voice broke.

“She wants me sick because as long as I need care…”

Tears rolled beneath her sunglasses.

“…she controls all the money you left in my name.”
