🎬 PART 2: «The Children He Had Been Searching For»

The bakery fell quiet.

The businessman crouched in front of the boy.

“Can I see it?”

The boy hesitated, then slowly lifted the pendant.

The man’s hands began shaking.

Inside was a tiny photograph of a young woman holding two babies.

His eyes filled instantly.

“That’s my daughter.”

The boy stepped back.

“No. That’s my mom.”

The man closed his eyes for one painful second.

“She disappeared six years ago.”

The little girl finally looked up from her brother’s shoulder.

“Our mom said we didn’t have family.”

The man’s face broke.

“You did.”

He reached into his wallet and pulled out an old photograph.

The same woman.

Younger.

Smiling beside him.

The boy stared at it, his lips trembling.

“Why didn’t you find us?”

The question hit harder than anything else.

“I never knew you existed.”

The businessman looked at their worn clothes, their dirty hands, the hunger they had learned to hide.

Then he noticed writing scratched into the back of the pendant.

An address.

His address.

The boy whispered,

“Mom said if she never came back, someone there would know us.”

The man covered his mouth.

“She was trying to send you home.”

The little girl reached for his hand.

“Are you our grandpa?”

He nodded through tears.

And the boy who had entered asking for yesterday’s bread finally started to cry.
