🎬 PART 2: «The Goodbye That Came Too Soon»

Madison’s mother rushed toward the casket.

Then stopped.

She looked terrified to touch him.

Terrified that one wrong movement would make whatever was happening disappear.

“Daniel?”

Her husband’s hand remained against Madison’s forehead.

Weak.

But moving.

Madison pressed it against her cheek.

“Daddy?”

His eyelids fluttered.

A mourner covered his mouth.

Someone farther back whispered, “Call someone.”

But Madison’s mother was already crying.

“Somebody call emergency services.”

For one strange second, nobody moved.

“Now!”

Phones came out.

Chairs scraped against the floor.

But Madison stayed curled beside her father, holding his hand between both of hers.

Then she felt it.

His fingers closed around hers.

Barely.

But enough.

Madison’s lips trembled.

“I knew you could hear me.”

Her mother leaned over the casket.

“Daniel, if you can hear me, stay with us.”

His eyelids moved again.

A faint breath escaped his lips.

Madison’s mother covered her mouth as tears poured down her face.

She had kissed that same face goodbye that morning.

She had watched the funeral director close his eyes.

She had spent hours accepting a life she never wanted.

And now her husband was breathing.

A man near the back suddenly stepped away from the crowd.

Madison’s mother noticed.

He was one of the funeral home employees.

His face had gone completely pale.

“Wait.”

Everyone turned toward her.

She stared at him.

“You told me you personally confirmed everything before the service.”

The employee swallowed.

“I…”

Her expression changed.

Grief became confusion.

Then fear.

“What happened to my husband?”

He looked toward the exit.

Madison’s father’s fingers tightened weakly around his daughter’s hand again.

The employee whispered,

“He wasn’t supposed to wake up.”

The chapel went silent.

Madison’s mother stared at him.

And suddenly this wasn’t a miracle anymore.

It was evidence.
